Vancouver Neighborhood Guide

Vancouver Neighborhood Guide

Vancouver’s population is on the rise and it’s easy to see why. Vancouver is just 10 miles across the Columbia River from Portland, OR. With a population of about 184,000 (US Census Bureau), it is much smaller than its big city neighbor. Vancouver has homes in a variety of prices. Living here gives you access to some of the best outdoor recreation in the country.  Vancouver itself has 90 parks and over 20 miles of trails. The stunning Columbia River Gorge and Mt. St. Helens are just a short drive away.

The current median home price in Vancouver is $376,000. The city has 68 neighborhood associations. House styles, sizes, and prices vary greatly depending on the area of the city. Let’s take a look at a few of these neighborhoods.

Fisher’s Creek

Niche.com names this neighborhood as one of the best places to buy a home in Vancouver. Most residents of Fisher’s Creek are homeowners. Houses here are a mix of architectural styles and mature trees provide privacy. This neighborhood is a short drive from Portland International Airport, making it a great option for frequent travelers.

Burton Ridge

If you are looking for a neighborhood with a strong sense of community, check out the Burton Ridge neighborhood. Its homes are well cared for and the neighbors come together for events such as Christmas parties and neighborhood clean-ups. Homes in Burton Ridge were built primarily in the 70s and 80s and many have incredible views of Mt. St. Helens.

Arnada

Between Uptown and Downtown is the Arnada neighborhood. As one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city, it has charming homes and mature trees. It is easy to walk and bike around Arnada or into nearby areas. It’s also a quick commute from Arnada to Portland, either by car or public transportation.

Whether you are relocating to the Portland/Vancouver area for business or to experience the outdoor lifestyle of the Pacific Northwest, this city has something for everyone.
